What Lights Out does
- Driving Game: The same car on the same circuit, driven from the keyboard: eight gears, automatic or manual, three widths of road.
- Typing Speed: A twist to the traditional racing game. The car only goes as fast and as accurate as you type.
- After Party: Walk around the Padang at night, open only to people who have finished. Films on the stage, a podium, music in the air, a wall of ideas to vote on, and a crew to join.
- Share Card: Generate a share card with your best timing

Questions people ask
What is LIGHTS OUT?
LIGHTS OUT is a browser game made by TINYLabs. It is a night street race you win by typing, on a circuit drawn live in 3D. It runs entirely in the page, so there is nothing to install.
How do you play?
Five red lights come on one at a time, then go out. There is no green. When they go out, type the words on the screen: the car goes as fast as you type. A race is two laps of words.
What happens if you hit a wrong key?
A wrong key costs a quarter of a second. Three wrong keys in a row spin the car and lock the keyboard for a moment. Typing before the lights go out is a jump start, and costs one second.
What do you type?
TINYLabs' own mission, vision and values, so finishing the race means you have read them. There are three levels, each longer than the last.
Can you drive the car as well?
Yes. The driving game is the same car on the same circuit, driven from the keyboard, with eight gears, automatic or manual. It opens to signed-in drivers and has a lap board of its own. On a phone held sideways it is driven with a stick and two pedals on the screen, with no account needed.
What is the after party?
A field to walk, modelled on the Padang in Singapore at night, open only to people who have finished a race. There are films on the stage, a podium, a wall of ideas to vote on, and a crew to join.
Can the leaderboard be faked?
The game never sends a time to the typing leaderboard. It sends every keystroke, and the server works the time out again from those, so a time on the board is one the server computed itself.
