MiniMax is a Chinese AI company founded in 2021 by Yan Junjie, a former SenseTime executive, who is its chairman and chief executive. It builds models for text, video, speech and music and sells them through an API and its own apps. More than 70% of its revenue comes from outside China.
Its language models are the MiniMax M series. MiniMax M3, released in June 2026, is a natively multimodal model, trained on text, images and video from the start, with about 428 billion parameters and a one-million-token context window. It is aimed at coding and agent work and is published as open weights under MiniMax's own community licence. Its other models include the H3 video model, Speech 2.8 and Music 3.0, and its products include MiniMax Code, MiniMax Design and the Talkie companion app.
MiniMax listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 9 January 2026, raising about HK$5.54 billion. In February 2026 Anthropic named MiniMax as one of three Chinese labs it said had used Claude to train their own models.
