Cerebras Systems builds AI computers around wafer-scale processors: single chips made from a whole silicon wafer. Its Wafer-Scale Engine 3 (WSE-3) is 58 times larger than a leading GPU chip, and Cerebras says it runs inference on leading open models up to 15 times faster than GPU-based systems. It sells CS-3 systems, launched in 2024, the CS-4 with three WSE-3 Turbo processors, launched in August 2026, and Cerebras Inference, a cloud service that powers Meta's Llama API, Perplexity and Mistral and is offered through Hugging Face and OpenRouter.
Andrew Feldman, Gary Lauterbach, Michael James, Sean Lie and Jean-Philippe Fricker founded the company in 2015. It is based in Sunnyvale, California, and Feldman is chief executive.
In January 2026 OpenAI signed a multi-year agreement to deploy 750 megawatts of Cerebras systems for fast inference, rolling out in stages from 2026. Cerebras began trading on Nasdaq on 14 May 2026, selling 34.5 million shares at $185 each and raising about $6.38 billion before costs.
