The ARC Prize Foundation is a non-profit that builds benchmarks to measure progress towards artificial general intelligence (AGI), meaning AI that can match people across most kinds of thinking. Its ARC-AGI tests use puzzles that are easy for people but hard for AI systems, and aim to measure how well a system adapts to problems it has not seen before.

François Chollet unveiled the original ARC benchmark in 2019. He and Mike Knoop launched the ARC Prize competition in June 2024, and in January 2025 they announced a non-profit foundation to run it, with Greg Kamradt as president. The benchmark has three generations: ARC-AGI-1, ARC-AGI-2 and ARC-AGI-3, which uses interactive tasks to test agentic intelligence.

ARC Prize 2026, run with Kaggle, offers $2 million in prizes across the three benchmarks. Leading labs including OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Anthropic and xAI use ARC-AGI, and the foundation provides benchmarks to the US government's AI evaluation centre at NIST. It is based in San Francisco.
