On 31 March 2025 OpenAI announced a $40 billion round at a $300 billion post-money valuation (its value including the new money), led by SoftBank. SoftBank's full share depended on OpenAI restructuring its for-profit arm by the end of 2025. OpenAI said 500 million people used ChatGPT each week.
