On 27 February 2025 OpenAI released GPT-4.5 as a research preview, calling it its biggest and best chat model. It went first to $200-a-month ChatGPT Pro subscribers and developers using its API paid $75 per million input tokens (chunks of text). Critics saw the gains as incremental for a model of its size.
