Google combined the Brain team from Google Research with DeepMind to form a single unit, Google DeepMind, led by DeepMind's chief executive Demis Hassabis. Jeff Dean became Google's Chief Scientist. Google's chief executive, Sundar Pichai, said the first of the critical projects Dean would lead was a series of powerful, multimodal AI models.
