OpenAI released APIs (ways for other software to use its models) for ChatGPT, through a model called gpt-3.5-turbo, and for its Whisper speech-to-text model. The chat model cost $0.002 per 1,000 tokens (small chunks of text), ten times cheaper than existing GPT-3.5 models. Snap, Quizlet, Instacart and Shopify were among the first companies to use it.
